No, Gentoo/FreeBSD is an another project from Gentoo to port their
infratructure to the FreeBSD kernel. That project is developed by the
Gentoo people not by us.

:-)))) I got it all wrong.
I should not have been doing all the things at the same time, like talking to customer, talking with my boss and reading DBSD forum.

I'm really sorry for this stupid post.

I'm going to upload a 32-bit Release Candidate based on 6.2 tomorrow so early adopters can help us find and fix some last bugs before we release the 1.6 final. This should also give translators enough time to update their translations.

Awesome, just in time for my new computer to be commissioned - I'm expecting the CPU to arrive today, I've only been waiting for it for the last month

edit: it just arrived :glee:

I have made the image available via Bittorrent for now:

ftp://ftp.desktopbsd.net/pub/DesktopBSD ... so.torrent

(I am seeding this with my own 1Mbps line at home, so please be nice and help seeding after your download is complete)

Attention:

  • Back up your important files, especially if you plan on using the upgrade method!
  • Some applications on the Live DVD might not work (e.g. burning CDs with K3B).
  • The upgrade method does not add some of the users required by parts of the new system, for example "cups" or "messagebus". This should not result in an unusable system, but could cause certain problems, e.g. with printing using cups.
  • Don't mount partitions in the slice you'll be upgrading/installing to in the Live system before starting the installer.
  • No language packages are included!

Additional information:
  • Updated pt, ru and cz translations as of 15 January 2007 are included
