Hi Marc,
welcome to the team and thanks for helping as, your work is really
appreciated.
1. Here's the tranlating howto, I will post it in the forum ans wiki
tomorrow after some minor changes:
Translating DesktopBSD:
1. Which tools are needed for translation?
Qt Linguist is included in every DesktopBSD installation. Start it by
executing the "linguist" command or using the K-Menu (in the
"Development" sub-menu; you eventually have to run the "Menu Updating
Tool" in "Settings" first).
If you want to learn more about Qt Linguist please see:
http://www.trolltech.com/products/qt/internationalization.html
If you want to translate on a Windows-system please check out:
http://psi.affinix.com/?page=download (scroll to the bottom of the page)
2. What needs to be translated?
If you are willing to translate you can look here to find out which
languages are supported in KDE:
http://i18n.kde.org/screenshots/?sort=columns with their abbreviations.
If the files for your country aren’t available yet please contact Peter
at ph at desktopbsd.net, he will generate them and let you know asap.
- trunk/desktopbsd-tools/Translation/desktopbsd.LANGUAGE.ts
(Use Qt Linguist)
- trunk/desktopbsd-doc/pkgdb.fix => pkgdb.fix.LANGUAGE
(Please avoid lines longer than 80 characters)
- trunk/desktopbsd-doc/gs_en => gs_LANGUAGE
Translation of the whole "getting started" document.
- trunk/desktopbsd-tools/KCModules/*.desktop
Translate the name= and comment= strings like this:
Comment=This system's installed devices
Comment[de]=Vorhandene Geräte in diesem System
- trunk/desktopbsd-tools/PackageMgr/dbsd-pkgmgr.desktop
(see above)
3. How to get the files needed?
a) I have an account and a Subversion client:
If you have an account for our Subversion repository and are familiar
with Subversion, please check out and afterwards commit the finished
files yourself. If you need an account please mail Peter at
ph at desktopbsd.net
b) I don’t have an account and no Subversion client:
Alternatively, you can download single files and whole directory trees
from http://svn.desktopbsd.net. Please click the link in the "Tarball"
column of the directory tree, e.g. desktopbsd-doc. You can then download
a tar.gz archive that contains the directory's contents. Open and
extract it using Ark. After finishing and checking please mail the
finished translation to ph at desktopbsd.net.
4. What have I check after translation?
Please check if you have translated all the files mentioned above.
Please also get the newest *.ts file from the server and see if there
are any untranslated phrases left.
Thanks for helping DesktopBSD, your help is really appreciated!
2. The necessary dutch files aren't there at the moment, Peter will
generate them and let you know via mail asap.
Kind regards, Daniel
